VROM Rijnstraat 8 by OMA - The Hague, Netherlands

Upon its completion in 1992, Rijnstraat 8, the former Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) building represented both an innovative office typology – its atriums served as conservatories: the outside brought inside – and a leading example of sustainability. Today the building, designed by Jan Hoogstad in the 1980s, no longer offers the flexibility and openness required of a contemporary office space. In collaboration with Jan Hoogstad, and in the context of a Public Private Partnership under the name of PoortCentraal (consisting of BAM, ISS and OMA), OMA has developed an integrated concept for the building based on a renewal of its existing architectural qualities.
&C Store, office and coffee bar by Anne Claus - Amsterdam, Netherlands
SolidNature has collaborated with Dutch designer Anne Claus Interiors to create a striking bright coloured Onyx bar which is the centrepiece of an innovative new workspace, store and coffee shop for media brand &C. The new &C headquarters, based in the heart of Amsterdam, is a joyful, vivid and stimulating space which reflects the brand’s ethos for people to have fun, inspire and be inspired.

SolidNature’s stunning Onyx bar, which is the highlight of the space, features a number of different coloured pieces of unique stone. SolidNature used the same stone throughout the space for the display plinths, the round table tops in the coffee shop and the boardroom table.
The impossible pool by Bert Maessen - Netherlands

Nestled at the heart of a Dutch townhouse, the impossible pool is a hidden gem designed by architect Bert Maessen in collaboration with John Maatman. Crafted from onyx and travertine, and set in a travertine floor, the end result is emblematic of SolidNature’s quest for perfection. After extensive research and development, a special waterproof coating for the stone was created, as well as backing the stone with glass to ensure it could withstand the weight of the water within it. The final flourish is artful LED backlighting to create a glow from within.
"When we see a store, we see a frozen snapshot of life over 400 Milion years ago. We see infinite possibilities. This is how we inspire architects and designers: to see the beauty and to use natural stone in new ways" - David Mahyari, CEO of Solid Nature
