SolidNature presents new limited edition pieces
SolidNature invites international architecture firm OMA and Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis to design limited edition pieces.

SolidNature’s aim is to harness the potential of exclusive materials in collaboration with the best designers, architects and creative minds in the world. For Milan Design Week, the natural stone brand asked dutch designer Sabine Marcelis and international architecture firm OMA to design functional art pieces. The result was the creation of Bathroom by Sabine Marcelis, and Balance cabinet and Inhabitable day bed by OMA, led by Ellen van Loon, which are now available in limited edition.

The monolithic state of the art Pink Pale Hue onyx Bathroom by Sabine Marcelis is composed of various intersecting volumes. This playful installation seems to glow from within, in line with Marcelis’ studies on reflection, transparency and light as catalysts for the materials she implements.

Crafted from a combination of Satin Verde marble and Fresh Flow onyx, Balance cabinet by OMA challenges the perception of gravity, rotating around a central structure. Weighing in at 1400 kg, the design is kept clear to maximise the aesthetic of its unique natural materials. The cabinet can be used as an open shelf from one side while the other side can be used as a closed cabinet system.

Intended as a natural stone block, Inhabitable day bed by OMA is a multifunctional marble and onyx structure with two main elements: a block fixed to the ground and another block that rotates and slides above it, revealing hidden secrets.

Together, SolidNature’s collaborations with Sabine Marcelis and OMA are emblematic of the brand’s desire to push boundaries and reinvent the way natural stone can be used. Giving an open brief for the creation of these designs led to a limitless opportunity to create Monumental Wonders.
